The hills above Ventura is a truly classic place to own a home. In the 60s and 70s the builders would tuck the kitchen out of the way of the windows and put the dining room in the front of the house overlooking the town of Ventura and the Pacific Ocean. I say this from experience because my grandparents lived in these hills. The builders of this beautiful custom home in the Ventura hills, however, rectified that design mistake by putting the kitchen at the front of the house so the view across the kitchen island and from the sink is of the the hills, the town, and the ocean in their glory. Today's kitchen is the center of the home metaphorically and practically.
The cabinets for this job are rustic Alder and stained in Hickory. The door is a beadboard similar to the Camden but with a bit more detail. It's not one of our standards, but it is readily available.
