Requesting a Sample
By: Jay McCoy
Choosing a color, material and door style for your remodel is difficult to do and nearly impossible without having the materials in hand. We do the best we can to accurately portray the color variations in our photographs, but the bottom line is it’s really hard to get the color of a finish on wood to look right when photographed. The lighting and reflections in the room and the depth, warmth and grain of the wood and finish are simply too many variables to handle at once. And trying to compare a photograph on a website to paint colors and flooring and counter choices becomes overwhelming quickly.
However, there is a better way. Give us a call (805) 648-6943 or us or, better yet, fill out this contact form and request the color samples you would like and we will mail them to you. We’ll send what we call a “chip” which is an approximately 4” x 4” piece of plywood in the material and finish (or finishes) you choose. Once we get further along in the process of designing and pricing your remodel, then we will be able to make up some samples for you of the actual door and finish you’ve chosen.
Take a look at the different materials (wood types) when deciding which sample colors you want. Each finish will look different on the different types of wood. For example, beech is darker than maple, so a light finish on beech (such as Spice) will be darker than that same finish on maple. If you need to compare the differences, request a sample of the different materials you’re interested in in the same finish.
